The harvest of the North Atlantic Sea Scallop is also protected for future generations by limiting the size of the scallop being harvested. The increased size of the "rings" on the dredge allows less mature scallops to leave the dredge thus maintaining a balance of the species that will continue to grow.

Fleet Fisheries, along with the entire Northeast sea scallop fleet, uses the latest monitoring technology to ensure that are fleet are harvesting within NOAA territories. This technology is essential to the management of the fishery in order to become a recognized sustainable fishery.
